Bobby's Story:
We were told that Bobby wouldn't make it through the night. The next day we were told that it was a miracle he was still alive.
After a lot of treatments, MRI's, Cat-Scans, X-rays, checking for brain swelling and all the other things, most of which I don't remember, and after weeks of praying and standing by Bobby's hospital bed, we were still told that there was no chance for him to live. We were told that they wanted to do a tracheotomy, we said no. We then went in and took him off the respirator. We were told that Bobby would be gone in 3 to 7 min.'s. Well Bobby fooled them all and just kept breathing.
After three long months of living in the hospital, Bobby was sent home to die.
The day of his release, when we asked what the Dr. saw in the future for Bobby, we were told to pray that he dies quickly. We were given no hope at all.
Well, it has been several years now, and we have a little boy who is saying a few words, working a switch to work the computer, and eating anywhere from 4 to 8 oz. of food by mouth. All this from the little boy who was going to do nothing.
It has not been an easy road, but it has been a road that has taught me a lot about life, and a lot about myself.
I think that the most important thing that I have learned is that there is NO such word as IMPOSSIBLE.
We have found that at the time of the accident there was not much hope given to our family that Bobby would live, let alone do anything meaningful in life. I have found this to be true of all the families that I have talked to.
We now know that there is hope for our loved one, and that we just have to be strong, and do what our hearts tell us. For this is the only hope that we have to hold on to
Alternative treatments that have been tried, like cranial sacral, hypnotist, acupuncture, magnets. The using of herbs instead of medicine for treatment.
Bobby is now 14, going to be 15 in Aug. He is doing GREAT. He is 5 ft 4 inches, and almost 100 lb. He's a big young man.
