Marty

Marty was 2 years old and 9 months at the time of his accident. My mother-in-law was watching him. She said she went in the house to use the bathroom and didn't take him with her. When she came back out she couldn't find Marty. He was floating face down in her 4 foot above ground pool. Marty had pulled a chair over to her pool. My husband had got called into work, and I was at the store so he took him to his mom's house. Marty was only at her house for 13 minutes. I pulled up to pick Marty up, and she came running out of the house with Marty in her arms. She didn't call 911 or try CPR. My brother-in-law was with me and ran in and called 911. I started CPR. Luckily the ambulance was around the corner. Marty was taken to the hospital were they got his heart beating again and then careflighted him to a children's hospital. Marty was there for 71 days.

We were told he wouldn't do anything, but we proved them wrong and never gave up. Marty smiles laughs out loud when he wants to, turns his head, and so much more that we were told would never happen. Marty no long has a trach that was suppose to never come out and eats some by mouth.
